Better Together… Bruce Russell
VENUE: THE SAVOY
PHOTOGRAPHERS: PIPPA & IAN
It’s been an incredible year for us so far, and in due course, we will be featuring many of the weddings and incredible events that have been keeping us very busy.
We also thought it would be lovely to showcase some of the great people we get to work with in this industry. A great event isn’t just about the beautiful flowers, spectacular lighting, incredible production, the beautiful dress… it’s about the people who make it happen. And we are incredibly lucky to work with some of the very best in the industry.
Over the course of the next six months or so, we will be featuring some very special people, who not only do an amazing job but are also some of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet.
First in the spotlight is the one and only Bruce Russell from By Bruce Russell Weddings. We asked Bruce a few questions about his world within the industry and his answers follow below. We’ve also featured some of our photographs from one of Bruce’s Savoy weddings.
Q: Tell us about Bruce Russell Weddings…
A: At By Bruce Russell, we are all about delivering weddings and social occasions with passion, style, and grace. Following 15 years in the hospitality industry, including dedicated tenures at world famous locations The Plaza, New York and The Savoy, London, I wanted to create a brand which offers a true personal touch to the most important of occasions.
Q: What makes the Savoy such a special venue?
A: There is something about The Savoy which draws people to it – yes, the Lancaster Ballroom is stunning, but with such a rich history, it’s one of those places that makes you want to be part of that history, and what better occasion than your wedding celebrations.
Q: Tell us about Ria & Matt’s wedding…
A: Ria & Matt were the dream couple! They had a clear vision of what they wanted their day to be like, both for themselves and their family & friends. The planning process was structured and efficient, allowing them to make decisions with ease – a dream really! On the day itself, Ria was the happiest bride I have ever seen – she never once asked for or demanded anything, she just went with the flow, gracefully, with a smile from ear to ear for the entire day. They are both so in love, and were so happy on the day – even the hotel staff commented on this, and it just made everything that much easier. Their wedding day was elegant, personal, glamorous and fabulous!
Q: What suppliers were involved in Ria & Matt’s wedding?
A: Working with great, reliable suppliers is key to a successful wedding or event. I also believe that the personalities need to fit, so with Ria & Matt, I made sure that this was the case. Here are some of the key suppliers we worked with:
- Photographer: (of course) Pippa Mackenzie
- Florist: Wild About
- Production: Wise Productions
- Entertainment: Urban Soul Orchestra
- Linen Hire: 88 Events
- Furniture Hire: Great Hire
- Transportation: Lords
- Dress Designer: Sassi Holford
- Invitations: Intricate Creations
- Hair: Errol Douglas
- Make Up: Kate Hughes
- Accessories: Lila Lila, Olivier Laudus, and Andrew Prince
- Photo Booth: Foto Noir
- Reporter: The Wedding Reporter
There are too many to name all of them, but each one was carefully chosen and played a key role in the success of their special day.
Q: What was your experience of working with Pippa and Ian from Pippa Mackenzie Photography?
A: The great thing about working with Pippa & Ian is that they get it. They had the brief, and knew exactly what to do to capture the day perfectly. You barely noticed them at all, but they were there every step of the way to ensure they had the most stunning images to tell the story – one which Ria & Matt will cherish forever.
